Converting linear motion to rotary motion?

I'm constructing a wave energy system for a college summer class, and I need to figure out a way for a piston moving up and down with the motion of the waves (created by a wave tank and defined by a mathematical function that you can input, for simplicity) to turn a crank attached to a generator.
